Mural Design for Monkey Wrench
Months after designing the mascot for Monkey Wrench, they comissoined us again to make a relief mural for their new office. It would be a 54"x40" mural carved in black granite. We looked at the monkey mascot of the company for inspiration.
After a bit of brainstorming and research, we developed two concepts where the monkey embodies the kind of work culture the company follows,
mixed with a little bit of wit.
The monkey on the left

A multitasking monkey engrossed in the three essential practices of a design firm:

Research (the book)
Design Thinking
(the primate habit of scratiching one’s head)
Communication (the banana phone)

The monkey on the right

Again, a multitasking monkey with six arms sits in a composed, meditative stance.
Simultaneously it’s engaged with worldly necessities like a smartphone and coffee, holding its visor like binoculars symbolizing forward thinking and foresight.
Just a divine being being productive.

The client went for the option on the left, the thinking monkey with the banana phone and book. So we developed mock ups in granite and granite with brass plates.
Although later, the client went for the six armed monkey option. It has gone for production and the carving work is till in progress. Hopefully I'll be able to upload
the image soon!
Thank You!
